Back to School Zoo Trip

Snuck up to the zoo today with Jessica today in between carpool trips. Now that school has started, mid-day trips are much less crowded. Most of the animals were having a pretty good day as well. The penguins were splashing around and all the new babies were out and exploring.
We ate at Ruth's afterwards which is just barely worth the lunchtime wait with a couple tired, rowdy kids. I had some so-so vegetable wontons and an awesome fried pickle sandwich. I also had good intentions with ordering a dessert to share, but flubbed the whole no nuts thing for Dylan... Dessert or not, we all had a great time :)

Avyrlie and I were up way too late last night reading books and watching movies. This morning we are at the zoo waiting for Jessica and her crew to get here and Avyrlie ran out of steam. I'm sure she'll recharge as soon as Dylan arrive though!

Dinner and a Movie Game

The Richardsons had everyone over Sunday for a dinner get together. The kids kept each other pretty well entertained in the back yard playing football and cookie keep-away with Indiana. Kim and Matt brought Scene It along to keep us entertained and we ended the night with Rachel's work-in-progress video of her parents New Zealand vacation.

Monster Truck Videos

If you listen close you can hear me cheering at the top of lungs (which is pretty loud...), and you can barely hear me. Did I mention monster trucks are loud?

Ian and I had a blast! We're not huge fans (or at all ;) but we screamed, cheered, picked favorites, and were amazed how much money was spent on merchandise. Everyone seemed to have little Gravedigger trucks, pennants, and collectible slurpee cups ($45 for the lot). No wipe-outs but I was amazed how high they jump those trucks. I'll post some pics and vid later.

Just waiting for Henry V to start. Made pretty good time on the way down so we caught most of the green show. Weather is 'Aaron' perfect which means Aimee may freeze ;)

Fruit Loop Monster

We had a ball watching Greg and Jessica's boys last night. Avyrlie is always up for spending time with cousins and worked pretty hard to show them a good time.


First they pulled out all the stuffed animals from her room and transported them to 'safety' in the living room. Then they transported them back to Avyrlie's room when dad suggested the animals might be getting tired and needing a nap. They watched Avyrlie's favorite cartoons for a bit, but holding still didn't last long!
Avyrlie got everybody a little bowl of Fruit Loops to pack around and snack on. Unfortunately it quickly became spread around and snack on so the bowls went back to the kitchen, except for Adam's. He was not about to lose track of a single Loop! Food is serious business with that kid ;)

Screaming Good Fishing Trip

Aaron invited us up to go fishing with him last Saturday. Not a lot of bites, in fact Ian had the only catch early on. After that is was a test of patience on all levels ;)
