Avyrlie thinks my individual peanut butter packets are just the right size for her. "Dad, can I have a taste?" and I never see it again...

Playoffs
During most of this baseball season, this post topic is not one I would have expected having much to write about. Ian's team has managed to turn that thought around and then some.
They managed to end the season with a tie against the only undefeated team in the league and have managed to advance to the semifinals in the playoffs. Next game is Saturday at 11AM which will be quite a change from the late evening regular season games.
Ian pitched a great inning, had a couple of good hits, and had some great fielding. It was a great game to watch and has us all looking forward to two more great games :)

Wet and Wild at Salem Pond
Headed down to Salem Park for some Memorial weekend fun in the sun. Most everyone was there and the kids had a blast playing in the water.
Aimee started out the day taking the kids out to breakfast with her parents. I started the day at work. We met up at the batting cages where I got smoked by Ian's mad baseball smashing skilz. I usually school him pretty good, but wasn't on my game today.
Then we headed down to Salem. Stopped at Hickory Kist on the way to snag some sandwiches and fudge. Matt brought water blasters for the kids to battle with. Avyrlie does not have the warrior spirit and took all attacks personally, melting into a pile of tears each time droplets flew her way.
Jessica got in some training time in the pond swimming almost the full course. She didn't drown and only held on to ducks for support twice so I think she'll do well ;)

Looking at Ladybugs
I put a bag of ladybugs in the garden and now Avyrlie's favorite thing to ask me is what they'll eat. "Will they eat the watermelon? Will they eat the strawberries? Will they eat the tomatoes? Can we make them eat my brother?"

Baseball Playoffs
Grand Slam and stealing home from aaron smith on Vimeo.
Mostly I'm playing with Vimeo, but it's not a terrible clip from Ian's game. He had a grandslam and held them to one run. I missed the hit, but got the cheers. Next at bat he walked and stole around to home. Next game is Thursday at 5:30. Hopefully they keep playing like tonight!
Beauty and the Beast
Avyrlie loves having sunglasses and takes them everywhere. Saturday we went to the zoo hoping to see the new crocodiles and Madagascar exhibit.
The exhibit was not too lively with most of the animals hiding out or not present and the crocodiles have yet to return to their regular pen. We did catch the bird show which I love and got to see a rare Steller's Sea Eagle. They are found in Russia and are huge. Wingspan over 6 feet!

Out to get some grub on the patio at cafe Trio. Veeery slow service so far. Hopefully the food is as good as Aimee says it will be :\

Taking advantage of some down-time
She's been a little under the weather today. Usually she makes it through a Friday without a nap. Today she's had four.
Colorblind much?
Princess Lunch
There were a million little kids there. Avyrlie was a bit overwhelmed by the numbers and the nuttyness. One kid, about 3YO, took Avyrlie's drink and threw it at his sister. Avyrlie looked at me very seriously and said, "She can punch him now. In the FACE!" I agreed, picked up our chocolate shake, sucked in a mouthful, read a tweet from K, and promptly laughed the entire mouthful out my nose. I am now a King legend to about 20 four-year-olds.

Baseball season, finally ending
I can't say I'm all that sad to see baseball season coming to an end this year. It's been pretty painful to see the team miss many more plays than they've made.
Last two games are Tuesday at 7:30 and Thursday at 5:45.
Having arena foot ball at the same time this year hasn't helped things out any. It's tough to follow a tediously slow two hour baseball game after the fast paced action of football. Ian has had a pretty good season, but we're still very looking forward to all-stars (fingers crossed)

The Cats Close the Deal
We found some cute shirts and a couple shorts as well. Avyrlie's at the weird in-between 4 and 5 size where everything is either the wrong size or they don't have the style you want in that size.
Nartjie came through with some cute outfits including hats and we even found a summer Cinderella dress.

X-Ray
Football Season
Now we're waiting for x-rays which could take all night. Hopefully it goes as quick as it's been so far. Thankfully grandma and grandpa Sutliff offered to take Avyrlie while we're here.
Updates to come...

The BIG Birthday Party
Avyrlie is still not quite convinced that her party was big enough to adequately celebrate the greatness that is her, especially now that she is four years old!
Next year I suppose we will have to round up a couple alligators and crocodiles and have better weather so we can party outside. Talking to Avyrlie after her 'party', it's clear that she remembers her last birthday party in the backyard and was pretty disappointed that the weather didn't hold out this year. When I asked her why she thought Mother Nature didn't let her have her party outside she said, "Probably my brother made her mad!"
